Reigniting and Strengthening Your Connections and Relationships

I did some reading and was fascinated to learn just how important human and social interactions are to our health. The lack of strong relationships can increase the risk of premature death by 50%.

This growth goal is similar to our week on Prioritizing Your Priorities but it differs in the sense that we are going to cast a wider net. This week is about reestablishing or strengthening relationships.So here’s the Challenge/Growth Goal. This week set-up a physical meeting or call at least 3 people with whom you haven’t spoken to in some time. Those people that, when they cross your mind, you think “I wonder how they’re doing? It’s been way too long we need to catch-up.”

 

Unexpected Testimony

I knew I wanted this to be the growth goal for this week. What I didn’t expect was to be the direct recipient of it, two days before sending this out. On Saturday, my Sorority advisor from college, out of the blue, called to check on me. I haven’t spoken with her in probably 5 years! I literally squealed when I heard her voice. And though a brief conversation of 15 minutes, it absolutely made my day! — and confirmed the power of this activity.This act can benefit all parties involved emotionally and as research shows, physically! Love a win-win.

Note: Try to make it a call or an in-person experience. I love email, text and social media as much as the next person, but there’s something to be said about the human voice; hearing and responding to inflections or watching body language as you catch-up.
